Sublimation

The appearance of wood or concrete on aluminium

What is sublimation?

Sublimation is a finishing technique in which realistic and highly detailed wood, stone, or metal prints are applied to the aluminium GARline® profiles. The result: a warm, natural appearance with the durability of aluminium.

How does sublimation work?

The process begins with a series of pre-treatments, such as degreasing and rinsing. A powder coating is then applied to the aluminium. This coating ensures even coverage and strong base adhesion. Next, the powder coating is cured in an oven, creating a durable bond between the coating and the substrate. Sublimation follows. During this stage, heat-sensitive ink is transferred into the coating at high temperatures. The ink fuses with the coating, meaning the image is not on the surface but embedded within it. This makes the final result wear-resistant and weatherproof.

Why choose sublimation?

With sublimation, you combine the aesthetics of natural materials with the practical advantages of aluminium.

  • Realistic and razor-sharp wood, stone, or metal prints
  • Flexible design – suitable for any architectural design
  • Weather and UV resistant – resistant to moisture, sunlight, and temperature fluctuations
  • Low maintenance – easy to clean with water or a mild detergent
  • Environmentally friendly process – no solvents, no harmful emissions, no waste
